About the KV
 

Kendriya Vidyalaya Idukki is one of the most prestigious educational institutions of Idukki. This centre of excellence which was newly opened in the academic year 2008-2009 under civil sector is temporarily housed at Painavu. It will shift to its own permanent campus as soon as the school buildings are constructed and other facilities developed in the ten-acre area of land earmarked for the purpose in Kuyilimala, Painavu. From Class I to Class X, this Vidyalaya has the strength of more than 660 students and 27 staff on rolls and has all along been striving to achieve academic excellence and development in the total personality of the students.

Genesis

 

A scheme for opening 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas in Special Focus Districts w.e.f. 1.4.2007 was propagated by the Sangathan. A proposal for opening a KV in Idukki in the Civil Sector forwarded by the District Collector Idukki on 28.11.2007 was approved by KVS on 21.4.2008 utilizing the sanction of the non-functional Kendriya Vidyalaya at Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya. The school was sanctioned with one section each in Classes I to VIII during the year 2008-09. Before formally inaugurating commencement of classes in the Vidyalaya on 28.07.2009, KVS had accorded sanction for an additional section in Class I.

Important Milestones of growth

 21.04.2008 – KVS approved opening of KV Idukki

28.07.2008 – Formally inaugurated the Vidyalaya and classes commenced.

11.08.2009 – Sanctioned Regular Affiliation for Secondary School Examination by CBSE, Delhi

Gradual Year-wise expansion in classes and sections leading to the present status

21.04.2008 – Opening of the KV with 1 section each in classes I to VIII sanctioned by KVS.

06.06.2008 – Sanctioned an Additional section in Class I

28.07.2008 – Commencement of classes formally inaugurated by Sh.Roshey Augustine, Honb’le Member of Legislative Assembly, Idukki.

01.04.2009 – Consequential upgradation to Class IX and second section in Class II.

18.06.2015 - Shifting to new Campus
